No sympathy for criminals
THE EDITOR, Sir:

Horace Levy, as evidenced in his letter to the editor ('Outraged at police killings', Gleaner, January 15, 2013), has no idea of the type of violence that the members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force face from criminals.

I do have a problem when law-abiding citizens are killed by the police, such as the businessman in Negril a couple of years ago.

A question for Mr Levy: When ruthless criminals fire on the police with Mac-10 automatics and AK-47s, what do you expect the police to do? Treat them like babies?

The best place for criminals such as those is on a slab in the morgue. I have no sympathy for them. Have you, Mr Levy, sought to offer words of comfort to the family of eight-year-old Imani Green, who was murdered in Duncans; or to the family of the detective who was murdered?
