DJ Smurf is plotting to kick off 2013 on a different note by adding new elements to his weekly club event, Radioactive Fridays. The party is hosted every Friday at Club Eras in New Kingston and will feature a wider variety of disc jockeys.

"At first, the idea I had was to host a event that would feature only radio DJs, and the name Radioactive seemed feasible at the time, so that's how the event got its name.

The concept was to basically use radio DJs to entertain the patrons," DJ Smurf said.

Smurf now wants to involve a wider range of DJs.

"The concept has changed for 2013, because what I find is that you have other DJs out there who can perform as effectively as radio DJs, and have their own fan base. So I will include street DJs and sound systems this time around," he said.

Radioactive Fridays is still a fairly young party. However, Smurf is determined to make it a staple on the entertainment calendar.

"I am coming up with more tactics to add to the 'wow' factor.

I am going to have free shuttle service for college students, drink specials and there will also be a membership card available for patrons, which will give them free access to Radioactive Fridays," he said.

General admission for Radioactive Fridays is $500. Females will be admitted free before midnight. Party time is 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.

Club Eras is located at 73 Knutsford Boulevard, New Kingston. There is a designated parking area at 19 Trinidad Terrace, which will be protected by security personnel.

Tonight the event will feature DJ Boom Boom and next week the featured DJ will be Nicco.

In coming weeks, DJs Chromatic, Dymond and 007, among others, will be featured.

"Patrons can expect a high-energy party vibe inside a club environment. The club has a good ambiance with good lighting and we have quality DJs, so patrons can expect good music, good drink and, overall, valuable entertainment," DJ Smurf said.
