Several of the children who were presented with shoes at the Payless store in the Sovereign Mall in St Andrew on December 6, beamed upon receiving the gift during the festive season.
Payless ShoeSource donated gift vouchers worth $2,500 to each of the children for a grand gift total of J$1M. The presentation was made by Payless Jamaica Country Manager Nekeisha Critchlow to executive director of the CDA, Carla Edie. Through this corporate social responsibility programme, Payless will deliver more than US$125,000 in free shoes to children in need across 12 Latin American and Caribbean countries this holiday season.
commitment to Jamaica
The retailer footwear company on a mission to democratise fashion, design and the latest ideas in footwear and accessories globally, has shown its commitment to Jamaica by again providing shoes for children in need during the Christmas season.
"Last year, we saw the huge smiles that our gifts brought to the faces of so many children and it is definitely a privilege for us to continue to give back to the communities in this manner for a second year in a row. Every child who we are able to assist also brings smiles to the entire Payless family because our aim is to enrich lives and spread joy and cheer, especially during the holiday season", said Critchlow.
Expressing her joy, Edie said, "We express our gratitude to Payless for brightening up the lives of these children at this special time of the year. Many times these children are forgotten, so it is nice that Payless has decided to stay committed to them and to provide them with shoes for the season. The feedback from last year was fantastic and the children appreciate another wonderful gesture from Payless in 2012," Edie said.
As part of this year's donation, Payless also treated a group of the children to dinner and a movie at the Sovereign Mall, home of one of its stores.
