A mobile emergency medical response watch by Guardsman Alarms, wireless video technology from Sitewatch, and the MOD office's electronic surveillance were just a few of the security offerings at the 'Securing A Nation' expo in Montego Bay on Wednesday.

The event, organised by the University of the West Indies, Mona, Western Jamaica campus, Public Relations Class of 2013 and the Montego Bay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, was held at the Half Moon Conference Centre.

The exhibitors, who all positioned themselves differently, gave insights into the future of security in the country.

It was an event that saw Hawkeye showcasing its vehicle-tracking system, Scotiabank reassuring potential clients and customers about the need for online security, and Marksman presenting an exciting dog show.

Other companies participating in the two-day exhibition included the Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences, the University of the West Indies, Mona, Western Jamaica campus, King Alarm and Sentry Security Services and Telegens.

Discussions surrounding organised and cybercrime in the parish of St James were the highlights of the inaugural event, which concluded with a self-defence class for women by Marksman.

'Securing A Nation' expo was sponsored by the Tourism Enhancement Fund, Marksman, Half Moon, A Rock Resort, Rainforest Seafoods, Secret Resorts and Spa, Western Union, Telegens Inc, Caribbean Producers, Pier One, AICAD Service Professionals, Jackie Jackson and Exclusive Holidays.
