Sporting Central Academy and Humble Lion played out to a nil-all draw in their second Clarendon derby of the 2012-2013 Red Stripe Premier League season at Brancourt.
Both Humble Lion and Sporting, who had won the first encounter 2-1, were looking to start the second round on a positive note after ending the first round on a low.
It was a keenly contested game between the two Clarendon teams, with Sporting's ace forward Levaughn 'Country' Williams being one of the bright sparks in the game.
The man from Mocho, Clarendon, hit the upright in the first half with a ferocious shot and had other close misses after making some deft dribbles and explosive runs.
unlucky day
"We lost four straight (in the first round), so we came here trying to get three points at the start of the second round," said Williams. "It didn't happen, but at least we didn't lose. I tried my best to score a goal today, it didn't happen, but that's the game of football."
Williams ended the first round with five goals to be second on the charts, one behind Jermaine 'Tuffy' Anderson of Waterhouse.
With his strike partner - the talented Francois Swaby - out with an ankle injury for the last two games and Keith Kelly overseas, Williams has been leading the charge for Sporting as they look to create an impact.
"We are looking forward in going all out in the second round," he said. "I am focused on scoring more goals and to push the team right back on top."
plenty experience
The former Lennon High standout has been at Sporting Central from he was 15 years old. He started out playing for the Under-21 team before graduating to the senior team, playing both in the wing back and forward positions.
Williams has represented Jamaica at the Under-20 and the Under-23 levels, where he was used in the right back position.
Blessed with speed, impressive dribbling skills and some thunderous shots from any foot, he is looked upon as a player for the future.
"I am a player who always puts everything in my game; I give of my best at all times and I will be continuing to do that for Sporting," Williams said.
The humble player said apart from helping Sporting win the 2012-2013 RSPL title, he is also looking at winning the Golden Boot award.
"That's my aim right now, to be the top goal scorer in the Premier League," he said. "Hopefully, I will get a call-up for the national team in the World Cup campaign."
