Vaz playing politics
Vaz
THE EDITOR, Sir:

I think Mr Daryl Vaz is using party politics when he is not asking, but telling the prime minister to declare Portland a disaster zone. If he needs to know a disaster zone, just make a call to our neighbours, Haiti. Jamaica did not experience even 10 per cent of what Haiti has gone through over the last couple of years.

Mr Vaz continues to lose his credibility with the people of Portland and the entire Jamaica. I think Mr Vaz knows very well that the declaration of a disaster zone, and the attendant resources which follow, will not be achieved so easily.

Even considering that the people of Portland lost a number of dwellings, as well as produce, only one Jamaican died during the passage of Hurricane Sandy here.

Sista P can only do her best with assisting the poor from the country's meagre resources.
