AUGUST TOWN broke their five-game goalless streak yesterday when they drew 1-1 against hosts Boys' Town in a heated match in the Cash Plus Premier League (CPPL) at Collie Smith Drive. It was a disappointing result for Boys' Town, who missed numerous chances to score because of bad play from the forwards. August Town wasted no time in capitalising on Boys' Town's weak feet and by the 44th minute Daniel Shaw scored from the penalty spot.

Boys' Town were not to be defeated on home ground and upped their performance in the second half. Five minutes after the resumption of play, striker Oneil McDonald gave his team the equaliser.

Marching orders

Boys' Town's charge ran out towards the end of the game when Omar Parker was given his marching orders. Down to 10 men, the hosts were at the mercy of August Town.

However, despite numerous attempts by Daniel Shaw in the closing minutes of the game, the match ended in a 1-1 draw.

A disappointed Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town, did not mince words in expressing his disgust at the team's lacklustre performance.

"I feel so bad. It's disappointing and I am disappointed on two fronts," Price said.

"I am disappointed on how the game was officiated. The referee was never close to the game. He made calls when he was 20 yards away from the play and really put us under a lot of pressure," he said.

"We went down to a penalty late in the first half. We fought back got the equaliser but we got numerous opportunities today and we are not converting and it is putting too much pressure on our defence."

Meanwhile, Hugh McCarthy, coach of August Town, expressed similar sentiments regarding his team's performance.

"A lot of coaches would be pleased with a draw playing away but I am not, nor am I totally disappointed. We played a good first half, we just have to work on some areas that need to be addressed," McCarthy said.
