The Excelsior Hockey Club's 31st Excelsior Indoor Hockey Tournament continues today, starting at 9 a.m. with the Under-16 section at the Excelsior High School Gym. Games will be four-on-four in male and female divisions. Last week's staging of the Under-19 section had 10 boys, and four girls teams. In the boys final, Wolmer's defeated Jamaica College 2-1. Excelsior A defeated Excelsior B 2-1 in the girls final. The leading gaolscorers were Dario Armstrong (Jamaica College) with 10 goals in the boys division, while Excelsior's Sasha Lawrence, Leshawn Fuller and Krystal Barrett ended on top with three goals each in the girls division. The event's Most Valuable Player was Kimberly Rhoden of Excelsior.
New coach
HAMILTON, Bermuda (CMC):
Former West Indies coach David Moore has been confirmed as head coach of the national cricket team, the Bermuda Cricket Board has announced. Moore's appointment had been widely expected after Trinidadian Gus Logie stepped down from the post last September, having guided Bermuda to their first World Cup appearance in 2007 when the tournament was staged in the Caribbean.
Boxers surface

Missing young Haitian boxers Evens Pierre and Johny Orisme have finally surfaced, overturning fears they may have perished in last Tuesday's catastrophic earthquake. The unbeaten light welterweight Pierre and the super-bantamweight Orisme are usually based in Panama, but were visiting family and friends during the end-of-the-year holidays when the earthquake struck.
Venue banned
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP):
The ICC has stopped a 2011 World Cup venue in India from hosting any international cricket until the end of this year, after a match was abandoned last month due to a sub-standard pitch. A one-day international between India and Sri Lanka on December 27 was called off at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium due to a dangerous pitch, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) said Thursday in a statement that it would oversee the work to make it playable.
Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium is scheduled to host four World Cup matches.
Real help
MADRID (AP):
Real Madrid are going to provide funds to rebuild a school that was destroyed in the earthquake in Haiti. Team president Florentino Perez said the Real Madrid Foundation will donate money to resurrect the Ecole Saint Gerard in Port-au-Prince. Real Madrid will work with a Spanish NGO called Acoger y Compatir, which founded the school. It had 1,200 students but was flattened in the quake, with some 300 children killed, Perez said at a ceremony at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
The team also plans to create a football school and social club that will provide Haitian children with medical care and food.
West Ham offer
LONDON (AP):
West Ham have offered a weekly salary of 100,000 pounds ($161,542) in the hope of enticing a star player to help them avoid relegation from the Premier League. British media has widely reported the player to be Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy. The former Netherlands player has been linked with West Ham's London rival Tottenham, but new Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan says he is targeting what he called "a very special player".
