Corrpak Jamaica's staff learned of the Haitian crisis as they headed home from a long day's work. The following morning, they told their supervisor that they wanted to make a monetary donation to help Haiti. Corrpak's management pledged to match their donation. The company has already made arrangements to donate approximately 10,000 assorted boxes valued at about $500,000 to the Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) and Food for the Poor to package relief supplies.
Corrpak told The Gleaner that its contribution may be small, but hopes that it will help to alleviate the suffering of the Haitians. The company is also offering a selection of boxes, at concessionary prices, for sale throughout the rest of January to anyone wishing to assist in the relief effort. The company will deliver these boxes to ODPEM, Food for the Poor and the Jamaica Red Cross at no additional charge.
