The first two parish champions in the Insports All-Island Community football championship will be known tomorrow.

Jungle 12 will meet Franklyn Town in the St Andrew final, after both sides qualified via penalty shootouts in a double-header at Barbican.

Jungle 12 beat Ayshire 10-9 on penalties after both teams ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time.

The feature game followed a similar pattern, as Franklyn Town and Crook Street played to a 1-1 scoreline, but the former prevailed in the ensuing shoot-out, winning 4-2.

In the Kingston semi-finals played last Sunday at the UWI Bowl, Caribbean Strikers edged Parade Gardens 2-1, and Romantic blanked Banks 3-0.

Caribbean Strikers and Romantic will meet in the final scheduled for the Barbican Mini-Stadium, which will also host the St Andrew final.

Insports netball

Forty-three schools have confirmed their participation for 30th Insports-sponsored Kingston & St Andrew Primary school netball league. St Patrick's Primary, winners of the league and rally last year, head the teams for the competition, which is set to begin next Wednesday. The finals are set for February 26.

Teams are drawn in eight zones with the top two in each zone advancing to the knockout phase. All matches are scheduled for the Leila Robinson Courts.

St Jago, Knox take titles

St Jago boys retained their title while hosts Knox College girls took the girls title at the second annual Knox College Volleyball Classic, held at that school's court

last Saturday.

In the boys' final, St Jago beat Muschett in straight sets 11-6 and 11-4. Ryck Webb of St Jago was the tournament's MVP. Meanwhile, in the girls' final, Knox 'A' beat Old Harbour 'A' 11-8, 11-6. Shantel Gray of Knox College took the MVP award.

Twenty-one teams took part in the tournament, which forms part of the Jamaica Volleyball Association's development programme.

St. Catherine Division One

The St Catherine FA Division One league continues tomorrow with two matches.

At the Lluidas Vale football field, Lluidas Vale (seven points) host struggling Invaders, while at Threadways, the home team takes on Royal Lakes (seven) in what should be a hotly contested encounter. Both games begin at 3 p.m.

On Thursday, Passagefort FC closed in on leaders McCook's Pen with a 2-1 win over Wanderers at the Passagefort playing field. The win moved Passagefort to 11 points from five games, a point adrift of McCook's Pen (12).

Christian Pen take on Daytona

Leaders Christian Pen (eight points) will face Daytona (five) in the E-Services-sponsored Portmore Division Two Football League tomorrow in the feature match of a double-header at the Hellshire football field at 3 p.m.

Both teams are coming off draws last Sunday. Christian Pen were held 0-0 by Hamilton Gardens, while a late goal by Kevin Williams gave Braeton United a come-from-behind 2-2 draw against Daytona.

In the curtain-raiser at the venue, Westport oppose Hellshire United at 1 p.m. Another double-header is scheduled for Watson Grove football field. Hamilton Gardens battle Daytona at 1 p.m. before Watson Grove square off with Racing United at 3 p.m.

Portland road race tomorrow

The National Health Fund and the Alfred Francis-led Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association Road Race committee will travel to Portland tomorrow afternoon for a 5K Fun Run/Walk.

The 5K Fun Run/Walk will take place at the Folly Estate, Port Antonio, Portland, starting at 3:30 p.m.

The route will take the runners and walkers through the streets of the parish capital. The event will start and end at Folly Estate.

Athletes will take part in various age groups: 10-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59 and over-60. For the walk, the categories are 30 and under, 30-39, 40-49 and 50 and over.
