At age 19, Sean Kingston has already produced a number of multi-platinum singles, two great albums, started his own record label and has shown no sign of slowing down.

Born Kisean Jamal Anderson on Saturday, February 3, 1990, this Jamaican-American reggae fusion singer and rapper has made countless Jamaicans proud as he has taken the Jamaican brand international, following closely in the footsteps of his uncle, renowned reggae superstar Buju Banton.

The owner of Time Is Money Entertainment, Sean Kingston is in Jamaica for today's Coke Zero concert.

Saturday Life sat down for a chat with Kingston to find out more about this talented young star.

SAT Life: Is Beyoncé still your definition of all that's beautiful?

Sean Kingston: Yes, definitely! Other than my mom, yes!"

Buju Banton is your uncle; how do you feel about the drug allegations levelled against him?

"Buju is my family and I'm hurt and saddened by it. But I am praying for him, I just want him to keep his head and trust God!"

Which one piece of advice has stuck with you?

"Don't forget where you coming from!"

How do you manage the responsibility of being an artiste?

"It's in me, it comes naturally! I've been doing it since I was seven years old. It's hard at times, but it's what I like so it's either go hard or go home!"

Tell us about the R&B artiste Iyaz, who you recently signed. It is reported that you found him on MySpace?

"I just believed in him, I was on MySpace and I heard his songs and I was like, this guy sounds like me and I liked his music. I can listen to a song and know whether it will make it or not. I liked his consistency; you know he kept calling me for a week after I contacted him, to keep up to date. I also always wanted my own label and one that would be successful at that, and right now Iyaz has a number-one song that does well for my label. He's really a blessing!"

We know you were discovered on MySpace, did you make it internationally first before making it locally and what makes Sean Kingston different?

"Definitely! I am very versatile, I can sing, I can rap and I do reggae and those things set me apart."

Why did you choose to use MySpace to showcase your music?

"Well, I was looking for a way out, you know to get myself out there. And I was already doing mix tapes, so I saw MySpace as the next best thing!"

You said in an interview that your favourite movie is 'Scarface', what's your favourite scene?

"The scene where Scarface's sister got married."

What are three tips an individual could use to break into the business as you have done?

"You definitely gotta be persistent! Stay focused and put God first always. And you also have to keep practising, work on your craft and you will definitely go somewhere!"

Has anyone ever asked you to speak Jamaican for him or her?

"Yes. I can speak Jamaican pretty well just as I can the American. When I'm in yawd I switch to yawdy style, and when I'm in the states I talk American."

What are some common misconceptions of our culture that you have had to clarify?

"That all Jamaicans are weed smokers."

What do you want to see in Jamaica?

"Peace man! Everybody needs to come together and make that happen!"

What qualities does a girl need to have to gain your interest?

"She has to have a nice body, nice personality and she has to be smart! I like intelligent girls!"

Where does your inspiration come from?

"My brother and my mom, and from life itself but mostly from my mom. She's my inspiration."

What artiste have you always wanted to do a collaboration with but haven't done so to date?

"Jay-Z."

What was your inspiration behind the song 'Fire Burning'?

"I wanted to make a crazy dance song that people could dance to and that's how I came up with that song."

What's your view on the predictions for the year 2012?

"I don't believe it. I leave everything up to God, he is the answer to everything!"

What can we look forward to in your upcoming album 'Tomorrow'?

"It's going to be hot! I did collaborations with Stephen Marley and Sean Paul and the tracks are crazy!"

What is that one thing you want to say to our readers?

"Put God first in everything!"
