Harbour View forwards Kavin Bryan and Jomo Gordon
Striker Kavin Bryan is set to make is much anticipated return to the Digicel Premier League for Harbour View when they oppose Village United tomorrow at the Harbour View Mini Stadium.
Bryan, who represented the national team last year, returns after a good season with Nottenden FC in the Norwegian Reserve League, where he netted 22 goals in the competition. Bryan's former Harbour View teammate, Fabian Taylor, also plays for Nottenden.
Donovan Hayles, Harbour View coach, said he was delighted to have Bryan back in their line-up because he will help to add another goalscoring option.
"He will certainly help to boost our attacking force upfront because we have a lot of inexperienced forwards who have been playing for us up front this season and with Kavin now in our line-up, we should be able to score some goals," said Hayles, in an interview with The Gleaner on Monday.
"He is a top class player who can do remarkable things with the ball. He is also a very good goalscorer and an excellent passer of the ball," added Hayles, whose team suffered a shocking 0-1 away defeat to Humble Lions on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Harbour View remain atop the Premier League standings on 39 points, three ahead of defending champions Tivoli Gardens (36) and Waterhouse (36), while Boys' Town (34) are fourth.
Capable replacements
The Stars of East are also set to lose a number of attacking players during this month's transfer window. These players are Denzil Watson to Humble Lions, Alanzo Adlam back to Sporting Central Academy and Errol Stevens to Tivoli Gardens.
Hayles, however, noted that they have capable replacements for these players.
"These players are good players, but I think that we have suitable replacements that can fill the void that they've left," said Hayles.
"We are one of the most rounded teams in the competition because we don't depend on any one player to lift this team," said Hayles, whose team has scored 24 goals this season while conceding 12.
Harbour View, who last won the Premier League in 2006, will also welcome the return of striker Jomo Gordon, who has not played for the club this season because of personal reasons.
"Jomo will also help to add a lot more firepower to our attack because he is a good player who has a lot of experience under his belt," Hayles reasoned.
