Anti-terrorism business in Jamaica?

The Editor, Sir:

It seems like the only way to go about getting economic support from the United States (US) nowadays is to join the war on terrorism.

The reality is that the war on terrorism will not end anytime soon, therefore it serves our purpose to see how we can take advantage of this opportunity. Jamaicans are very resourceful and creative and I know that if we put our mind to anything, we can make it happen.

We should look into the possibility of designing equipment to detect explosives and weapons that are nonintrusive and expeditious. We could, for example, look into supplying airlines with needed equipment. Airlines are frustrated with the increased security requirements and companies are scrambling to find more effective and efficient ways of getting people through security checkpoints.

Sometimes opportunities arise in ways that are not ideal, but the reality is that war requires numerous resources and we could position ourselves to supply some of the needed equipment and materials needed for the war on terrorism.

I am, etc.,
