Double reasons to be thankful
The Editor, Sir:

As we give thanks in our prayers for the survival of all passengers on the recent crash-landing of the American Airlines plane at the Norman Manley International Airport, let us not forget the impeccable safety record of our own Air Jamaica pilots.

I have flown on many different airlines over the last 40 years and came to the conclusion long ago that Air Jamaica pilots are among the best in the industry. They love to fly and exhibit great skill in flying (landing, take-off and in air turbulence). The comfort of passengers seems to be of paramount importance at all times.

Caring, attentive service

Let us not forget the stewardesses, who, with their caring, attentive service (like only the Jamaican woman can deliver) makes for a pleasant flying experience.

Having said all this, I often wonder why Air Jamaica has not been profitable. It is hoped that whatever becomes of Air Jamaica, that some way is found to retain the services of our pilots and stewardesses.

I am, etc.,

F. SPENCE

Mandeville, Manchester
