Bright days ahead for Rebelution

The American reggae band Rebelution will make its biggest push yet to break into the mainstream market by launching a 39-day tour of the United States, starting in January.

The Santa Barbara, California-based quartet is promoting its second album, Bright Side of Life, which was released in August.

The tour is scheduled to start January 13, with the first of two shows at the House of Blues in Anaheim, California. Rebelution is down to perform in 21 states, plus Washington, DC.

Rebelution is part of a roots-reggae explosion taking place in southern California. Many of these bands are American, such as Slightly Stoopid and Pepper, which have built huge followings through hectic touring.

Courage To Grow, Rebelution's first album, was a sleeper hit in its home state and peaked at number four on Billboard magazine's reggae chart.

Bright Side of Life is currently number seven on that chart.
