Public reacts to Buju's arrest

What is your reaction to news that Buju Banton has been arrested on drug charges in the United States?

Donna Dias, practical nurse

Well, maybe he was set up because he doesn't like gays. I just feel it's that.

Gloria Graham, retired teacher

They (United States officials) claimed that he and some others tried to sell drugs to undercover DEA agents, so something must have gone down. They must have caught him doing something or else they couldn't have arrested him. All I can say is that I am sorry for him, especially since his album has been nominated for a Grammy. That (drug claim) is going to work against him.

Edward Darien, bus driver

I believe it is unfortunate for him to find himself in that situation, knowing the controversy brewing between him and the gay (community). I suspect it is a trap, (and) for him to get out he has to prove otherwise.

Gregory Whyte, security guard

As an artiste, he shouldn't be there (US). I can't say if he has done so or not, but if it is true, he should have set an example for others to follow because drug trafficking nuh go anywhere as an artiste. If he does it, a greedy him greedy.

Yvonne Beckford, cosmetologist

I believe it was a set-up with Buju Banton. Everybody knows that Buju Banton does not do coke.

Weston Facey, farmer

I was surprised. I never expect that. If it were ganja, then I could understand. I hope that he was just set up and not dealing with it, because as a dreadlock, I expect straight ganja.
