Uptown Shops Downtown

City regulars and first-time shoppers from uptown will converge on Grand Market downtown Christmas shopping tomorrow as the 'Christmas in the City, Downtown Comes Alive' public-private sector initiative kicks off.

Montego Bay's Wedding of the Year

The Gleaner was the newspaper of choice for what is being dubbed as the Second City's wedding of the year, when Drs Paula and Sunil Stephenson were married. See Janet Silvera's exclusive coverage in Sunday's Outlook magazine.

Tuesdaytalk

Late-night stuff

1. The boss lady was taken by surprise when the underling announced that he was heading north for the holidays. Workers suspected that something other than work was happening during those late-night conferences.

However, it was her thunderous outburst that proved them right.

Watch it!

2. The Ministry of Labour appears not to be as vigilant as it ought to be. There are indications that some companies are acting in contravention of the labour laws. Their actions are not in keeping with good industrial practice. They fire workers without cause and deny them benefits by threatening them. Those who remain are so afraid of losing their jobs that they are glad to work 80-hour weeks without proper compensation.

Where's the purse?

3. The story of the missing purse is being kept hush-hush because the uptown muscle shop does not want its reputation tarnished. But, some say stealing has been happening there for a very long time. This time, though, fingers are being pointed at a member of the upper crust.

Office romance

4. It can't be true. Could someone be so brazen? Well, the word is that the husband has been spending a great deal of time with the staff - well, one staff member in particular. He has been warned, for it would be bangarang if the missus found out.
