The Gleaner reported in Tuesday's edition that the esteemed prime minister is to meet with two dancehall disc jockeys who go by the monikers 'Vybz Kartel' and 'Mavado'. As most Jamaicans are aware, there is an important confe-rence that is being held at this time in Copenhagen, Denmark. The world economy is trying to claw its way out of a serious recession and the problem of lack of employment poses a serious risk to the national security of small countries such as ours.
The problem of crime and terror in Jamaica is at the tipping point, and there are countless other problems that the chief executive of the country should be attending to, but he chooses to address dancehall DJs at Jamaica House.
When Usain Bolt was awarded the national honour, I wrote that as much as I love this athlete and have his photograph all over my business place, he was not yet ready to receive such an honour. Clearly, Usain, in his youthful enthusiasm, has aligned himself to the so-called Gaza-Gully ignorance.
Why would the country's chief executive use the peoples' House to elevate this fiasco that is born out of illiteracy and ignorance? What the Prime Minister is doing is rewarding bad behaviour.
I am, etc.,
