No surprises expected
No surprises are expected when the national selection committee of Nehemiah Perry, Ephraim McLeod, Ruddy Williams and coach, Junior Bennett convenes today to select Jamaica's 18-member squad for next month's regional four-day cricket championship.

The squad, which will be chosen following the playing of the third and final trial match at Melbourne Oval, is expected to retain most of the players who led them to back-to-back titles last season with first-timers Zeniffe Fowler and John-Ross Campbell, Donovan Sinclair, fast bowlers Krishmar Santokie, and Ricardo Dacres, and young wicketkeeper, Maverick Perry, all expected to miss out.

Lambert to lead

Middle-order batsman Tamar Lambert, whose 162 is the highest individual total of the trials thus far, is again expected to lead the team in the absence of first-choice captain, Chris Gayle.

Yesterday, Xavier Marshall completed his second century in the third and final trial match. Hitting the ball with relative ease and timing, Marshall, who made 125 in the first innings, ended on 110 not out, as Lambert's XI, with a 144-run first-innings lead, closed the day on 201-6.

Bernard Jr's XI, who resumed the day on 168-3, were eventually dismissed for 283, replying to Lambert's XI's 427, with Bevon Brown getting 50 and Horace Miller, 37.
