MONTROSE PHINN last night netted a last-minute equaliser for Harbour View in a 1-1 draw against August Town at Compound, cancelling Kamel Mullings' 54th-minute strike to stay joint second in the Digicel Premier League standings on 30 points with St Georges.
Tivoli retained sole leadership of the league with 31 points although drawing 1-1 at home with Sporting Central as the only other team in with a chance of unseating them, St Georges, drew 0-0 at Waterhouse.
Harbour View and St Georges started the day on 29 points, one off leaders Tivoli, who led with 10 men but gave up the advantage three minutes after sending their fans into a frenzy.
Jerome Christian struck a quick equaliser for Sporting Central, leaving the champions hoping Harbour View's late game against last-place August Town would not affect their position atop the Digicel Premier League standings.
Reduced to 10 men after 35 minutes after captain Navion Boyd was sent packing for retaliating, Tivoli enjoyed the better of exchanges and led in the 77th minute when substitute Horace Sharpe scored a striker's goal, scrambling in a cross which beat goalie Andre Blake.
However, before Tivoli's fans had time to settle in their seats after extended celebrations, Christian was left unmarked at the back post in the 80th minute and he easily booted in a low cross which left goalie Edsel Scott rooted on his line at the near post.
Coach Lenny Hyde said Boyd's ejection hurt Tivoli but his team should not have allowed the visitors back into the game after scoring.
"We played well with 10 men but we were celebrating instead of organising and they hit us on the counter.
"We lapsed in concentration in defence and gave up the equaliser," he added.
Sporting Central's Donovan Duckie said his team's first intention was not to lose against homesters Tivoli.
"Tivoli have not lost in a while and we knew playing them here would have been difficult, so we soaked up a lot of pressure and played them on the counter.
"We took control of the second half and started passing the ball around," he added.
Duckie said he was pleased with his team's unbeaten run, having not lost in six matches.
Sporting retained eighth spot with the draw, holding 17 points, the same as Rivoli, who trail their Clarendon rivals on goal difference.
