Portmore United and Village United continued their struggle to find top form in the 2009-2010 Digicel Premier League yesterday afternoon when they played out an disappointing 0-0 draw at the Elliston Wakeland Youth Centre in Falmouth.
For Portmore United, who came into the game in sixth place on 20 points, it was more disappointment for assistant coach Jeffrey Hewitt, who felt the team created enough chances to have come away with a win.
"In terms of missed chances, we are very disappointed because we got quite a few scoring opportunities," said Hewitt. "However, in terms of the overall game, a point on the road is something we can live with."
Village United have failed to garner a single point in their last six outings and assistant coach Paul 'Tegat' Davis believes the team's lack of fitness and concen-tration level is hampering their performance.
"The team is not fit and they need to be fit to compete effectively," said Davis. "The players are talented and energetic but they need the fitness to lift their game."
Back-to-back chances
The first chance of the game went to Village in the fourth minute when Teofore Bennett got away before the goal but fired straight at the goalkeeper. Portmore countered with back-to-back chances in the eighth and 12th minutes. First, Zane Goulbourne booted tamely at the goalkeeper and second, Roen Nelson booted wide under pressure.
