7-y-o girl killed

A seven-year-old girl was shot and killed yesterday evening in the community of Drewsland, St Andrew.

The killers are believed to be gunmen from a rival community who fired on her uncle as he transported her and another relative on a motorcycle.

The girl, Coby Lewis, was shot several times in the incident. She was taken to the Kingston Public Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Rum safe

Wray and Nephew says a massive fire at the facility Tuesday night would not affect the supply of rum and other liquor, as the fire did not impact the warehouses used to store its rum products.

The company said yesterday it was yet to begin its assessment of the damage as, up to late afternoon, firefighters were still conducting cooling down operations. It was also not yet known what caused the blaze.
