A Philippine bar is staffed entirely by dwarfs.

The bar in Manila - known as Hobbit House - is owned by Jim Turner from Iowa in the United States, who only hires short bartenders and waiting staff at his club and restaurant.

The drinking house was named after the vertically-challenged characters in the J.R.R. Tolkein Lord of the Rings novels.

When he first moved to the Philippines in 1961 and bought the bar, Turner hired two security guards with dwarfism from an employment agency.

Soon he was inundated with applications from others living in the slums of Manila.

The 70-year-old's public house is now so popular, he opened a second in Boracay.
