Summerbell tops Sirgany in thriller
Glenroy Sinclair, Assignment Coordinator

With her eyes glued to kart No. 91, Marlene Jones screamed and shouted at the top of her voice, as she cheered on eight-year-old Senna Summerbell, who was locked in a ding-dong battle with Joshua Sirgany for the chequered flag, during one of the exciting 80cc races, at Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston, yesterday.

"Go Senna! Go Senna!" she screamed.

Spurred on by the loud cheering, young Summerbell responded by displaying keen determination and produced a late burst to stave off a fast-finishing Sirgany.

A smiling Summerbell raised his two thumbs then waved to his nanny, Jones, at the fence, cheering her heart out.

Though he lost to Summerbell in that race, Joshua Sirgany was one of the top performers in the 80cc class. Other good performances came from William Myers, Thomas Issa, Matthew Williams and Collin Daley Jr, in the Rotax Jr Class.

dominated the Rotax Masters Class

Sheldon Morgan and Garth Genus dominated the Rotax Masters Class while Peter Wong, Mike Simmons, Calvin Chung and Dr Derrick McDowell were prominent ones in the Super Masters Class.

The JKA championship continues today with the grand finale race meet. Qualifying begins at 9 a.m., with the first race expected to get under way at about noon.
