IT IS official. Montego Bay's Dean Corrodus has been declared the Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club Rally Sport Driver of the year while Clarendonian Christopher Campbell was recently named Dover's champion driver.
Now, the question on karting fans' lips is who will be the Jamaica Karting Association's (JKA) driver of the year.
The answer should be known this afternoon at Palisadoes International Raceway, Kingston, when the season climaxes. And, association president Dave Wong is looking forward to an exciting conclusion.
The top contenders are Thomas Issa, Sheldon Morgan and Matthew Williams.
Last year's defending champion, Mario Mair, and top contender Justin Wong are out of the running as they are overseas attending school.
Sammy Law had some advice to the top contenders about his son, Jonathan.
"Don't count him out," said Sammy Law, who sounded the warning. He said his son, Jonathan, could surprise many in the Rotax Mini Max Class.
"He is going to give a better performance than the previous meets," said Law.Peter Rae, however, is confident that his charges Frazer McConnell, Joshua Sirgany and Issa should do well.

Sirgany recently made karting history by winning an event at the Homestead track in Florida. He was among several Jamaicans who competed at the event. The others included Collin Daley Jr., Thomas Issa and Richard Lechler.
An exciting battle is expected in the Rotax Junior Class between Daley, Williams, McConnell and Samantha Summerbell. President Wong said it has been a successful year for karting despite the recession.
"One of the bright sparks was the many positive backs we got after our international race meet. I am confident that things are going to get bigger and better next year," said Wong.
