Free 'hell care'?
The Editor, Sir:

With the kind of care patients receive from public hospitals across Jamaica, one would wonder if they are getting free health care or free hell care, while doctors are having hell to care.

When you visit hospitals for treatment, the long waiting period and the lack of medicine and other resources have taken a toll on patients' health. Many suffer hoping to get proper treatment but leave sometimes with experiencing a taste of hell.

The old lady who sits for hours to see a doctor but finally is told we cannot test your sugar level because we don't have the necessary things to do so. The frustration and pain can be seen not only by patients but doctors you are expected to work long hours to provide the best care under the most distressing condition. At the end of the day, one can say welcome to 'free hell care', not free health care.

I am, etc.,
