St Catherine's three last Manning Cup hopefuls, Bridgeport, Eltham and Waterford High will be in action today at the Spanish Town Prison Oval, as the quarter-final round of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel Manning Cup continues.
Bridgeport, the only one of the three to have tasted championship success, will play Norman Manley in the second game of a double-header at 3 p.m., while Eltham, who have won the Walker Cup once, will challenge high-riding Waterford at 1 p.m.
The quarter-final round is divided into three groups with the winners and the best-place second-place team advancing to the semi-finals.
Bridgeport's first match against Eltham had to be abandoned at Constant Spring with the scores level at 0-0.
It will, however, be a different story for three-time champions Norman Manley, who in their first game at the same venue fell at the hands of Waterford 2-3.
"It's going to be a very keen keen contest. Norman Manley have skilful players, full of touch and we have similar players too," said Anthony Patrick, coach of Bridgeport.
"The team has come along good enough, but they are still not playing to their full potential. But we are hoping to see them bring the best game tomorrow (today) and once we can do that, we should get a positive result," he added.
One of the competition's leading scorers, Daren Mattocks, will lead Bridgeport's charge along with Jamiel Hardware and Adoah Nickle, while for Norman Manley, much will be expected of Dean Phillips and Lamar Thompson.
