Window of opportunity
The Editor, Sir:

I am deeply grateful that God has provided Jamaica with the window of opportunity to restructure the corrupt police force and to reorganise the financial sector.

The resignations of Derick Latibeaudiere as governor of the central bank and Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin do provide that window for Jamaica. Prime Minister Bruce Golding should not hesitate to quickly set up a selection committee in the police force to weed out the corruption and to establish recruiting centres in the universities.

Jamaica should stop rewarding failures with permanent luxury positions.

I am, etc.,
