Marraso Cabernet Sauvignon, new wine on the market

Marraso red and white wines. - Contributed

Marraso Cabernet Sauvignon is a complex wine. It is fruity with spicy notes that go well with a wide variety of dishes. It has an intense ruby red colour with a hint of mahogany.

The aroma is also highly complex and spicy, with notes of plum and roasted pepper and overtones of fruit jam together with toasty coffee and vanilla fragrances.

The wine has a pleasant, well-rounded front-of-palate taste with hints of summer fruits such as cherries and strawberries. It also has an aftertaste of smoky oak with a good length on the palate and a well-structured and agreeable finish.

FOOD MATCHING

It goes well with grilled meat, chicken, lamb, roasted vegetables, pasta and rice dishes.

From Mendoza, Argentina, Marraso Chardonay comes from a vineyard situated 3,900 feet above sea level in the region of Tunuyan. Its colour is pale yellow with greenish traces. The wine is well-balanced with hints of tropical fruits. The fruity complex has green apple to the fore and tropical influences of pineapple and banana. Its taste is subtly elegant and smooth on the palate; well-balanced and full-bodied with an agreeable finish. Pair this wine with baked fish or grilled oily fish, white meat and rice dishes.

The wines are currently doing well in the hotels and were recently launched in supermarkets starting with the Hi-Lo chain. They will be featured at the Wine and Food Festival at the Jamaica Pegasus hotel on November 5 and 6. They will retail in stores for approximately $850.00+tax per 750ml bottle. They are distributed by National Meats and Food Distributors in St Ann.
