While politicians argue
THE EDITOR, Sir:

ASK YOURSELF how many families you know which do not know someone who has been killed by an illegal gun. Then you will understand.

As our politicians argue, our funerals continue.

Day after day someone's lifelong love is killed while politicians argue; firearm holders are murdered one by one while politicians argue; children are raped and murdered while politicians argue; taximen and private bus drivers ignore the rule of the road while politicians argue; scrap-metal traders take public assets while politicians argue; Jamaica continues to fall apart while politicians argue.

Many will read this and think these statements blatantly unfair. However, if you are brutally honest with yourself, if you are honestly patriotic, and if you only love this country, you must agree. As politicians argue, the funerals continue.

I am, etc.,

B. Richardson
