Hubie's big 6-O!

It's time to have a ball, was the plan for PROComm's Hubie Chin last Saturday night when his wife, Jean Lowrie-Chin, and family put on a party for him at their St Andrew home.

It was also a reunion of sorts as the birthday boy's batchmates from the St Augustine campus of the University of the West Indies and old football teammates (the Packers Football Club) came from far and near to celebrate. So, talk was naturally centred on topics loved by engineers. This reporter even learnt the secret of the pinkie ring! But, it's a secret and so it shall remain.

Two cakes

The special occasion called for two cakes, with the very yummy fruitcake made lovingly by his mother-in-law Maisie Lowrie.

In paying tribute to her husband, Jean described him as a quiet guy who came into his own when their children Noel and Anita came into his life. "He's a fantastic father!" she said.
