'Help me find my dad'

PAUL GREEN has not seen his father in over 37 years. Yet, he is still hoping against the odds that one day they can be reunited, and his yearning will end.

"I just want to know my father. I grew up all my life without much interaction with him," said Green.

"If I find him and he doesn't want to talk, that's it, but I want to get in touch with him."

Green said he last saw his father when he was 12 years old, and it was such a long time ago that he cannot recall any memories of the time they spent together, especially since they had a visiting relationship.

After living in Mountain View, Green migrated to the United States with his mother when he was 24.

Determined to reconnect with his father, Green made several attempts since 1982. To date, no luck.

Green said his search began before he left Jamaica and since then he has tried using the Internet, but to no avail.

Search becoming increasingly important

After pausing his pursuits, on several occasions he is on the move again with a fresh drive for a better outcome.

"At my age, you would think that it wouldn't matter, but for the last 15 years or so, it has become very important. I just want some closure," declared Green.

He said his father's name is Randall Green, and his wife's name is Dorothy.

Their last known address was Carpenter Avenue, off Molynes Road, and his father often travelled to Canada.

Green recalls a brother called Barrington, a sister whose name is Angella, and Paulette or Pauline Green, with whom he spent time as a youngster.

The father of four says the children frequently ask about their grandfather's family, as they only see his mother's relatives.

"They ask about it and you know how difficult that is to answer?" he said. Though Green had difficulty growing up without a father, he has made sure no such problem exists with his children.

Although it was a problem not growing up with his father, Green ensured he was there for his children.

"That (growing up without a father) didn't have any negative impact on me as a father," he said.

"Hopefully he is still alive and I can locate him," Green said.
