Portia Simpson Miller will be the guest presenter at the annual Eric Williams Memorial Lecture Series on Friday, November 6, at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center at the Florida International University in South Miami, United States.
Simpson Miller will address the theme 'A New Vision for a New World Reality: Prospects for the Anglophone Caribbean', and will focus on critical issues of sustainable development for the region. This will be followed by a question-and-answer session.
She will join the distinguished group of international scholars, including several other Caribbean leaders, who have made presentations at the lecture series since its inception in October 1999.

The event is also intended to provide an intellectual forum for the examination of pertinent issues about the history and politics of the Caribbean and African diaspora, simultaneously highlighting world leaders and international scholars.
The lecture series honours the the first prime minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Eric Williams.
The lecture series continues to attract large numbers of students, academia and corporate citizens, and is organised by the University of the West Indies, the African New World Studies Department of the Florida International University and the Erica Williams Foundation, headed by his daughter, Erica Williams Connell.
The event is free and open to the public.
