Calvert Fitzgerald's days as coach of August Town seem to be numbered after his team suffered their fifth defeat, this time at the hands of Arnett Gardens, who romped to a 4-1 victory in their Digicel Premier League match-up at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex yesterday.

A Kevin King hat-trick, coupled with a Dwayne Plummer strike just before half-time, cancelled out a 27th-minute Akeem Thenstead goal and carried the 'Junglists' to only their second win of the season, giving, player/coach Fabian Davis much-needed breathing room on the Arnett Gardens bench.

Fitzgerald is, however, left to ponder his next move and hinted at resignation after seeing his team score only their second goal of the campaign, while conceding 14 in the process.

Said an obviously disheartened Fitzgerald: "Things cannot continue like this. I have never really thought about it (resigning) until now, but basically it's a work in progress.

"But every time we play a good game it's followed by two bad games, so I have to think in that direction now.

"It don't make any sense I am here and maybe someone else can come in and get what I can't get out of the players, so it's something to think seriously about," Fitzgerald added.

Davis, who decided to concentrate on his coaching duties for this game, would not have been pleased with his team's start after Thenstead stuck the ball in the back of Arnett Gardens' net with 27 minutes on the clock.

King restored parity three minutes later, before Plummer rose highest at the back post to give the 'Junglists' the lead for the first time, on the stroke of half-time.

King returned to complete his hat-trick with goals in the 58th and 88th minutes, to wrap up the win for Arnett Gardens.

Areas of concern

Davis in the meantime was pleased with the win but highlighted a few areas of concern, after leading his team to only their second win of the season.

"We went out there and got four goals, and that was very good for us," he said. "We will continue to take it one game at a time. Our work rate has to step up. I still need to work on the discipline and attitude (of the players) and get them to understand that this is their job and that they need to have the passion and love for what they do."
