National Commercial Bank (NCB) has committed $2 million towards this year's staging of a four-day netball series which involves host, the Sunshine Girls, Australia and New Zealand next month.

The series, which will be dubbed the NCB Sunshine Series, will see Jamaica playing Australia on October 17 and 18, then New Zealand on October 20 and 22.

Matches will be held at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

Pre-game show

There will also be a pre-game show each night, which will include performances by this year's Digicel Rising Stars finalists.

"We have given consistent support to the sport of netball because it is enjoyed by a wide cross section of NCB's customers and staff," said NCB's marketing manager for consumer services, Charmaine Wright.

This is the second year that NCB has sponsored the event.

"We are sure that our Sunshine Girls will continue to make us proud, and we urge everyone to support the NCB Sunshine Series and cheer on our netball team," Wright added.

Marva Bernard, president of the Jamaica Netball Association (JNA), said: "This sponsorship is a great thing for netball and I must thank NCB for the sponsorship that they have given us for this series.

"We are very grateful for all the other sponsors because this gives us a chance to showcase our girls at home, and I know that they are going to make us very proud, and I am urging everyone to come and support us," Bernard said.

"These series are very important because we don't get a chance to play competitive netball at the highest level as often as we would like to," Bernard said.
