Barbican lifted their fifth title after hammering hapless Portmore Strikers 6-0 at the Ferdie Neita Park in Braeton in the second-leg final of the Sherwin Williams-sponsored Women's Premier League on Sunday.
The St Andrew-based team won the tie 10-2 on aggregate after winning the first leg 4-2 at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex the week before.
Barbican were led by a double strike from Janine Bennett (16th, 44th). Nadola Chase (fifth), Kerry-Ann Douglas (86th) and Rochelle Reid (87th) got a goal each.
"Our plan for the second leg was that we weren't going to sit back and let Portmore play. Instead, we came out attacking. We wanted to take the game from the first half and we got early goals and it snuffed the life out of them," a confident Charles Edwards, the Barbican coach, said after the match.
Portmore's coach, Cornel Clarke, said his team did not rise to the occasion.
"I thought the team got stage fright. They were nervous and didn't play up to standard," said Clarke.
"We were a bit weak in defence as we sent Iesha Mowatt, who played well in defence, into attack to get some goals, but our defenders and our goalie let us down. The season is over. We just need to rebuild for next year."
