St James strike again

Western Bureau:

Champions St James High School made it two wins from two starts in the 2009 ISSA/ Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup yesterday afternoon when blanked Muschett 2-0 in their Zone A fixture at Wakefield, Trelawny.

"We should have won this game with a double-figure score based on the large number of chances we missed today," said Pastor Hugh Solomon, coach of the St James High team. "We definitely will have to go back to the drawing board and work on our finishing."

Squandered chances

Despite the spate of miss chances, St James still managed to find the target twice through the diminutive midfielder Daniel Foote and the wily Alwayne Barrett. Last season's golden boot winner, Allan Ottey, was among the players who squandered multiple chances.

In another of the three Zone A games, Spot Valley High School had their finest hour in their two years in the league when they surprised two-time champions Herbert Morrison Technical 1-0 on their home turf at Spit Valley. Oshane Forbes got the all-important goal.
