Dean on target for golden boot

National striker Roland Dean said he is working overtime to become the Digicel Premier's League's leading scorer this season.

"The hard work that I have been doing in front of goal in training is now paying off for me," said Dean, who has now scored three goals in three matches.

Dean scored a double to guide defending champions Tivoli Gardens to a comfortable 4-0 victory over August Town on Wednesday at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex. Dean scored his goals in the (20th and 70th). Jermaine Taylor (16th) and Keammar Daley (24th) were the other scorers for Tivoli.

"I am definitely hoping to be the leading goalscorer in the Premier League season and I am going to work very hard to achieved this," Dean said. He added that he is still working very hard to improve on his fitness.

"Physically, I don't think I am where I would want to be, but I am going to work very hard to improve this," said Dean, who scored 19 goals last season.

Standings

Tivoli, who are unbeaten so far this, now lead the standings with nine points, two ahead of Portmore United (seven), who were held to 2-2 draw by Humble Lions. They are followed by Sporting Central and Rivoli United, who are both on five points each.

"I think the sky is the limit for this team because I believe we can go all the way, but we just have to be humble about it and continue to work hard in each game," said coach Lenworth Hyde Sr.

Meanwhile, Dwight Morgan, assistant coach of August Town, said: "I think that we played well in the second half, but in the first half the players did not follow our instructions, hence we conceded three goals. I think that once we gave up those three goals against a team like Tivoli, it was going to be very difficult for us to recover."
