Abandoning their corporate garb for tights, gym shorts and sneakers, corporate executives, joined Shaggy and former heavyweight boxing champion Lennox Lewis, to work up a sweat at the Shakti Love Fest launch.
The launch, held at Shakti Mind Body Fitness on Wednesday, was a preview of things to come at the Fest on October 3 to be held at the Terra Nova All-Suite Hotel. The festival is a charity event put on by Shakti in collaboration with the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation and Ocean Spray Wata. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Bustamante Hospital for Children.
The fest will include health talks, lots of yoga and spinning, and an intimate concert with Shaggy and Friends. At the launch, it was evident that some of the corporate executives needed to get cracking on the spinning machine, as some seemed 'not to so fit'.
Shaggy took it easy on the machine, admitting that he was new to both spinning and yoga.
Converts may have been created as those who had doubts about yoga as a workout technique had a different opinion after Sharon Feanny had them stretching muscles they did not even know existed. She also applauded them for taking the time out to spin and do a little yoga for the children.
She added that Shaggy has started something, they (at Shakti) have now joined in on. "It's a gesture that has humbled and inspired us to make a conscious step to be a part of something great because the children are our future and we have to take care of them."
