Montego Bay face-off!

Spot Valley Complex in St James comes alive today with a match-up of drivers, a food festival and music fit for the whole family at Racing Extravaganzas.

The event, which is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., is the first of a two-leg race meet. The second being on November 1.

Competition sub-committee chairman of Jamaica Millennium Motoring Club (JMMC), a sponsoring partner, Larry Henriques was optimistic about the drivers' turnout.

"We are expecting about 35 to 40 cars for the meet," the JMMC executive said.

The racing official said the closed track in Spot Valley Complex was ideal for the event.

"It is a smooth and hard surface ... It is one of the better prepared tracks in Jamaica," he said.

Marcia McDonnough, marketing and sponsorship manager at Turnkey Productions, another partner, said that feedback is positive.

"The feedback is good so far," she said.

The Turnkey Productions executive said the entertainment would include Richie Stephens and Friend and is suitable for the whole family.

"We'll have a live stage show," she said. "There will be special fun-filled for the children's activities as well."
