Judgement time coming for PM
THE EDITOR, Sir:

MR PRIME Minister, judgement time is just a couple years away.

You have fulfilled some of your promises but the recession will put your plans and expectations in serious problems. Jamaica is going to judge you on two platforms, either of which can cause you to lose the general election.

Security of the country

First, the security of the country. You did not create the problem but you are expected to solve the serious crime plague we are experiencing. Mr PM, to be blunt, the police force, from top to bottom, is a litany of corruption; all Jamaica knows this. Be brave, seek outside help, recruit police from Cuba, United States, Britain, Venezuela, etc and place them at our borders and police stations. Our local law enforcers are benefiting from crime so they have no intention of solving it; and they are also political. Take my word, let the foreign police work with the local ones and change the foreign police as you see corruption creeping in among them.

The second area of judgement is the economy. You did not create the problem; Omar Davies did. When you took over, the national debt was out of control and the recession added insult to injury. We must put our economic problems at the feet of the People's National Party and Dr Davies. Don't stop talking about it, but you must also echo the solutions to these problems.

Please tell your Members of Parliament that they must stop being arrogant. They must be in their constituencies. They must live good with their constituents. Some of them are even ministers but people are not seeing them. The constituents put them there and the constituents are going to vote them out.

You need to make impromptu visits to the 32 constituencies the Jamaica Labour Party won and speak to the people so you will know what is happening.

I am, etc.,

Concerned

Clarendon Resident
