Tragic love affair

WESTERN BUREAU:

A love triangle took a vicious twist when a woman's former heart-throb allegedly attacked her and her common-law partner in Burnt Ground, St Elizabeth, yesterday morning.

The accused, who is on the run and whose name the police have withheld, reportedly kicked in the door of 48-year-old Melonie Morris' house where she and her steady companion, Conroy Ledgister, 38, were asleep about 4 a.m. Sunday.

The attacker chopped Morris in the head while Ledgister was cut on the neck.

Morris was taken to the Black River Hospital where she was treated and released. Ledgister was transferred to the Cornwall Regional Hospital where he has since been admitted in serious condition.

Morris had reportedly ended the affair some months ago.

Newspaper sources said directives have been issued for some detectives of the St Joseph Police Station to be transferred with immediate effect.
