Police seize more ganja

The Bridgeport police in Portmore, St Catherine, seized two parcels containing ganja at Southborough in the parish.

No one was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Reports are that at 1 p.m., police were on patrol when they saw a Toyota Hiace bus registered PC 4411 parked on the road. It was searched and the parcels containing the drug found. The bus and contraband were confiscated.

Investigation into the matter continues.

This occurred only two days after four men were taken into custody by the St Catherine police when nearly 2,000lb of ganja was discovered in a vehicle in which the men had been travelling.

The police allege the drug was part of a shipment a United States-registered twin-engine aircraft to Jamaica was to pick up when it crashed on a private road owned by Windalco Bauxite Company in Schwallenburgh district, near the St Ann-St Catherine border. The two occupants of the plane were killed.
