NCU to honour Robert Levy and Milton Morris

( L - R ) Levy, Morris

Philanthropist and chairman of the Jamaica Broilers Group, Robert Levy, along with entrepreneur Dr Milton D. Morris, will receive the Doctor of Laws degree honoris causa from Northern Caribbean University (NCU) on Sunday. The conferral will take place during the university's 86th graduation exercise to be held on its main campus in Mandeville.

Levy will be the first commencement speaker at the graduation.

"To be honoured by NCU is the greatest pleasure because the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom," said Levy.

"NCU's contribution to society and to me in particular is an absolute delight. If we (NCU and I) can assist people in living a quality life, then I think I will be doing justice to the honour that NCU will bestow on me," he added.

NCU President Dr Herbert Thompson has hailed Levy as a nation builder.

Nation builder

"Robert Levy is a nation builder who has exemplified himself as a distinguished and honourable gentleman who truly deserves to be recognised and NCU is gratified to showcase this mark of excellence," he said.

Levy is a co-founder of Jamaica Broilers Group, which is one of the Caribbean's leading agro-industrial organisations. He serves in several capacities, some of which include director of the board of the King's House Foundation and a longstanding member of the Jamaica Agricultural Society.

Dr Morris, who is the president of MDM Office Systems Inc, based in Maryland, United States, is the initiator of the Morris Entrepre-neurship Centre, a business outreach arm of the university, based in the Cobblestone Professional Centre in Mandeville.

Dr Morris also expressed great appreciation for the mission of NCU in sharing quality education to Jamaica and the world at large.

Each year, NCU identifies persons who have contributed significantly to the development of their country and people and recognises this contribution by conferring on them the institution's honorary doctoral degrees.

Approximately 1,000 students will graduate with bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees during the university's three-day graduation exercise, beginning today.
