Clinton, Haitians to meet

Clinton

MIAMI (CMC):

Former United States President Bill Clinton will this weekend have a "heart-to-heart" talk with Haitians in South Florida, the organisers of a four-day conference on Haiti said yesterday.

The UN special envoy is expected to make a special pitch for the impoverished French-speaking Caribbean country to the hundreds of Haitian and Haitian-American professionals and others that are expected to attend the event.

"Everybody's trying here, trying there. So we're trying to work with one voice," said Bernier Lauredan, a New Jersey paediatrician, who is president of the Haitian League, the group organising the conference.
