NOTE-WORTHY

  • Boyne and Asafa

Ian Boyne must decide whether he wants to be a Usain Bolt or an Asafa Powell.

On August 2, we were once again indebted to this outstanding columnist for informing us that PM Bruce Golding, the former National Democratic Movement leader who once thought constitutional changes were a top priority, now understands - a quarter of a century after Carl Stone - that values and attitudes transformation is critical to any progress.

Wow! But, like Asafa, Ian refuses to run full out to the finish line. Tell us, dear Ian, how to go about achieving this ... without the mass media's help, I dare you!

  • At the colonial masters' mercy

The colonial masters gave us Jamaica as reparation and look what we did with it. We still look to our colonial masters for a 'bread' even after 47 years of independence. Maybe we should thank them for bringing our forefathers to Jamaica.

Look what Africans have done to Africa. Maybe our new masters, the International Monetary Fund, will take pity on us and not pull the chains too tight.

  • Jesus' race

Regarding the writer who expressed disgust when he saw a picture of a white Jesus mounted in a public place. He commented that Jesus was Palestinian.

Would the writer be less offended if the picture of Jesus rightly depicted Him as a Palestinian?

  • Continue to produce good standards

I am a young Jamaican living in America and can only say these pioneers have paved the way for us, and we are to continue to produce good standards in our beautiful country, Jamaica.

    Rest in peace, Lady Bustamante.
