Kingston College's Alain Bailey, helped by a following wind of 4.7 metres per second, won the Class One boys long jump on the opening day of the VMBS Boys and Girls' Championships at the National Stadium on March 16, 2005. Best performances: Gold medal, long jump, Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Junior Championships in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. Bronze medallist, long jump, Carifta Games in Les Abymes, Guadeloupe.

Bailey, during his junior days, was considered one of Jamaica's best long jumpers at that level. He has won several titles at Boys' Championships, CAC Championships and Carifta Games in both the high and long jumps.
