Anastasia Le-Roy is the latest addition to Jamaica's team for the 12th IAAF World Championships in Berlin, Germany.
Le-Roy, who was a member of Jamaica's 4x400m team which won bronze at the 2007 edition in Osaka, Japan, joins Lerone Clarke and Ramone McKenzie, the other two late additions to the Jamaican contingent to the August15-23 championships.
A former Holmwood and Jamaica junior athlete, Le-Roy was called in to cover for Bobby-Gaye Wilkins, who is suspected to be on the injured list.
Le-Roy is already in Germany and will join the team at the training base in Nuremberg today.
Not connected to hearing
According to Gleaner sources, the inclusion of sprinters Clarke and McKenzie is not connected to the current hearing into the positive tests by five Jamaican athletes. Both sprinters have been named as cover for Marvin Anderson, who is nursing an injury.
Anderson, who finished fourth in the 100m and third in the 200m, pulled up during a 200m race at the Lausanne Grand Prix last month. Clarke finished seventh at the trials but later won silver at the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Championships in Cuba in a personal best 10.08 seconds. McKenzie, who pocketed a bronze at the CAC Championships, was fourth in the 200m at the National Senior Championships.
