Some 48 communities are expected to benefit from visits by the new Maggi Mobile Kitchen that was unveiled at the Denbigh Agricultural and Industrial Show last weekend.

The visits will start at Wildman Street, Central Kingston tomorrow from 2-6 p.m.

Representatives of the popular brand, told Food on Saturday that they will go into communities and show the public how to make affordable meals using Maggi products. There will be demonstrations on the spot and the experts will go through each step of the recipes with residents.

Tight budget

"With times as hard as they are now, the aim is to get people eating healthy, balanced meals on a tight budget. These include soup which is a one-pot meal and can be made with something from each of the six food groups on the food pyramid," said Nestlé's Wendy Robertson. At each weekly stop, residents will get a chance to sample the meals, ask questions and get answers about what Nestlé, owners of the brand, intends to sensitise them with.

The visitors to the Nestlé booth also had a chance to purchase breakfast items including porridge, samples of the new fritters made from the Maggi Saltfish Fritter Mix and experience the mobile kitchen at work.

Other activities on show in the booth included; Milo's guest athletes and cricketers, a number of health checks, talks on various health topics to visitors and information about portion control and nutrition talks.
