As the race for promotion to top-flight football enters the final stretch, three teams remain in the hunt for a spot. And with the grand finale of the Digicel Premier League (DPL) play-off somewhat resembling a game of musical chairs, either Wadadah, Humble Lions or August Town will end up without a seat at the end of the day.
Humble Lions (9) will host Wadadah (7) at York Community Centre, while August Town (8) travel to Drax Hall where they face Brazil.
Leading the pack with nine points, Humble Lions can secure their spot in the big league next season by earning another point. However, the Clarendon team are bound to have their hands full against the resurging westerners, who have the potential to nab what had initially looked like an unlikely return to the premier league with victory.
Second opportunity
"I think we have what it takes to go through. The fact is we thought we were out of it, and now that we have been given a second opportunity we hope to grab it with both hands," said Wadadah coach, Daniel Ricketts.
"The guys know what is at stake, so there is plenty of motivation and we will be going for a win," he added.
"In the first set of the games we were not playing our usual style of football, the football that got us here. Since changing that around we have been getting the results."
However, with his team needing just a point at home, a place where they are unbeaten in the play-offs, Humble Lions coach Anthony Pringle is confident his team will get the job done.
"We are very confident headed into the game," he told The Gleaner.
"From the outset we established a consensus that if we don't win, we'll settle for a point. We have done that for five rounds, there is no reason for that to change now," he added.
Burst through
Originally favoured to burst through the tape in first spot, early leaders August Town have gone winless in their last two games. If the KSAFA team, now second on eight points, are to ensure their return to local top-flight football, they must find a way to turn that around against an already eliminated Brazil at Drax Hall.
"We certainly need to get something out of the Brazil fixture and we are determined to do so," said August Town coach, Calvert Fitzgerald.
"We are pretty confident headed into the game. We know what we have to do and that is to get a positive result and book our place in the Premier League," he added.
If they are to punch their ticket back to the big time today, August Town will have to do so without influential midfielder Aphas Bernard, who picked up a red card in the team's last match, on Saturday against Wadadah.
